POM still in the dark

Most areas within Port Moresby have been literally in the dark for over 12 hours now.

Ensisi and Waigani are some of these areas that welcomed the New Year with a power outage which was restored in the early hours of January 2nd, then went out again in the evening and is yet to be restored on January 3rd.

In a statement on their Facebook page, PNG Power Ltd said with the bad weather conditions, they are unable to provide restoration times however, their teams are working in the affected areas to restore supply.

Supply was partly restored to the Boroko Feeder 1, covering areas from Boroko Police Station, Garden City, Boroko Post Office, parts of Boroko shopping centre, Angau Drive, Port Moresby General Hospital, Three-Mile and Two-Mile and PNG Power Office Four-Mile.

“Murray Barracks/SVS areas isolated for restoration work,” stated PPL.

“Boroko Feeder 3 for areas from Gordon International School, Cameron Road, Sir John Guise Stadium, Erima Shopping Centre and Air Niugini Housing are on load shedding for 2 hours.

“Boroko Feeder 7 covering parts of Gordon Industrial area, Hohola, Bowman’s, Coca-Cola, Steel Industries, Works HQ, Eda Ranu and Stop N Shop – on emergency load shedding.

“Kanudi Feeder 3 – Supply restored for areas Baruni, Tatana, Atlas Steel, Porebada Road, Papa, Lealea, Telikom Earth Station, Rainbow, UPNG and Arts School.

“Waigani Feeder 2 – Broken Cross Arm so no power yet for areas from PNGIPA to Holiday Inn along Waigani Drive to Laguna, Tokarara and Hohola 4.”
