PNG will deliver beyond expectations: Lupari

Chief Secretary to Government, Isaac Lupari, is of the view that Papua New Guinea will deliver APEC Leaders Week beyond expectations come November this year.

Lupari said hosting of APEC would provide a greater opportunity for PNG to promote and market its investment destination.

In a debriefing of 2nd Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) and Related Meetings recently, Lupari expressed his gratitude towards all the Government agencies that have taken lead during SOM2 and urged them to continue to work together in delivering APEC 2018.

He said lessons have been learnt during SOM1 and SOM2, paving a clear path now for SOM3, which is a much bigger meeting compared to the other two meetings and that would be the icing on the cake leading up to APEC Leaders Week in November this year.

He said so far, the preparation for SOM3 meeting in August is on par and urged all relevant agencies to work harder to achieve the three policy priorities on:

  1. Deepening connectivity and encouraging regional economic integration;
  2. Promoting inclusive and sustainable growth; and
  3. Promoting inclusive growth through structural reform

He added that these three priority policies will have a greater impact on our economic development so must be embraced at all times.
