Planning project updates presented to new minister

Officers of the National Planning office were given an opportunity to give brief updates on the status of projects that were working on.

They also outlined their plans on how effective this projects will be on the national level.

Hakaua Harry the secretary for planning said the role of the national planning in the development of this country was an important part.

It was also an opportunity that she saw fit to acknowledge former National Planning minister Charles Abel.

A brief on projects were also presented by two representatives from the two wings of the national planning office.

These included the public investment wing and the policy and budget wing which work together to ensure an effective coordination of the development agenda of Papua New Guinea.

Important development agendas to note were the National framework and planning and responsibility act which provides three important frameworks highlighted by the first assistance secretary for foreign aid division.

Meantime, the brief given to the new minister Richard Maru also highlighted many upcoming projects that need to be looked into including presentations of drafts toolkits of these frameworks; with emphasis on the goal to localise the Global sustainable development goals to the PNG Context.

In response to the brief presented Minister Maru stated that the planning department is the nerve centre of development.
