People reminded of duties as Christians

Christians throughout the country have been encouraged to strengthen their faith in the Lord this Easter period.

PNG Council of Churches (PNGCC) general secretary Rev. Roger Joseph said those actively participating in the Church have to be very careful of how they use their emotions as it leads to their decisions and actions.

In quoting the bible, he said those that caused the Cross to happen were either religious leaders or followers of Jesus, making reference to Peter and Judas.

He added that Christians also have to be very careful in the way they use church money.

“Money can easily corrupt our minds and rob our integrity.

“We have to be very careful in the way we exercise our powers in the positions we hold in case greed and wrong politics overcome us.

“We also have to be very careful in the way we associate in groups in case we will be influenced wrongly.

“And we have to be very careful in the way we carry out orders of our superiors in case we carry out wrong orders,” Rev. Joseph said.

Rev. Joseph highlighted that integrity is what we all need to maintain our allegiance with Christ and that is what makes us live by our principles.

He said that if people fail in their Christian faith, the power of the Cross through remorse and repentance gives the opportunity to return to the faith.
