Parties urged to resolve EMTV issue

President of the Pacific Islands News Association, Kora Nou, has urged parties in the reported termination of EMTV news and current affairs manager, Neville Choi, to quickly meet and resolve the issue.

Nou, who said he has spoken to the three parties separately, has offered to mediate and to reach an amicable resolution.

He expressed deep concern for the clients and viewers of EMTV’s flagship TV program, the nightly news bulletin, which did not go to air on Tuesday (August 20th) night – the first in over 30 years.

Acting Head of News and Current Affairs, Meriba Tulo, told TVWan news this morning that newsroom staff who went to work this morning were refused entry to their work stations.

He also dispelled rumours that newsroom staff were terminated.

According to the press statement released by management of Media Niugini Limited on Monday 19th August, Choi was terminated on grounds of insubordination, among others.

The issue has also reached the Prime Minister who said today that he has asked the Minister for Communication to carry out a full inquiry.
