Parkop expresses condolence to family of late Ruby Laufa

National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has expressed his heart felt condolence to the family of former Miss Papua New Guinea the Late Ruby Laufa.

The late Ruby Laufa passed away at the Port Moresby General Hospital on Saturday, February 11, at 3.30pm.

She was 24 at the time and would have celebrated her 25th birthday on February 13. The late Ruby was the Miss South Pacific PNG 2012-2013.

Laufa leaves behind her father, Maurice, from Gulf Province, her mother, Hane Sepi Nouairi-Schaaf, of Central Province and Tongan-German blood, and her younger sisters, Sherridan and Rhani Villie-Maina.

Parkop said, “It’s very tragic that she passed away the way that she did.

“I know the father Maurice because we went to school together at UPNG so the Late Ruby has always been like daughter to me.

“I’d like to express my condolence to Mr Laufa and his family. It was a personal loss for them and we all feel their loss.”

Meanwhile, the suspect involved in her case will not be charged as yet until a coronial inquest is done.

A coronial inquest Under the Coroners Act 2003 (SA) can be held to establish the cause, or circumstances, of a reportable death.

The autopsy report that was released on Tuesday revealed that she sustained injuries to her head (Skull fracture) when she fell off the vehicle.

Officer in Charge of Homicide Ulavis Mantu says the report also showed that she had bruises and scratch marks on her back and arms of which she also sustained upon her impact with the ground.

Police are urging eye witnesses to come forward with any information regarding the accident.
