Concerns were raised by the family on the lack of recognition for their mother, which prompted emotional responses from readers.
One reader even suggested for PNG citizens to take ownership and assist Susan’s family in their time of need.
Loop PNG spoke with Susan’s husband, Nanny, who said in spite of the flag making money for businesses, his wife has never received any gratitude, whether in cash or kind.
“We have been together for 45 years. In that time, my wife has never received anything, not even a 5 toea,” he said.
