Oro Provincial Government give K500, 000 for Haus Krais

The Oro Provincial Government has given a total of K500,000 to the 13 Haus Krais of the relatives of the victims involved in a nasty road accident on January 9, 2017.

The funding were sourced from the Provincial Disaster Office.

Visiting the Haus Krais (place of mourning) today and presenting the food items and other stuff, Governor Garry Juffa, accompanied by the nine Local Level Government presidents for the first time went as a team and to talk to the people.

It was a rare occasion as the leaders have never came together in any event.

However, the death of the 13 people has brought the leaders together.

Nothern Province has been hitting media headlines recently for leaders not working together and developing the province.

The leaders have pledge to work with Governor Juffa and help the people rather than politicising issues.

The 13 victims of the road accident died instantly after their PMV collided head on with an oil palm fruit truck belonging to the Higaturu Oil Palm Ltd.

The nine LLGs include Popondetta Urban LLG, Afore, Higaturu, Safia, Tufi, Kira, Kokoda, Oro Bay and Yoma LLGs.

Of the 29 passengers, 16 survived while 13 died instantly.
