NRI Director Charles Yala farewelled

The Papua New Guinea National Research Institute has farewelled it’s Director Dr Charles Yala today.

Dr Yala has been Director since mid-2015 and leaves having had a 22-year association with the Institute since graduating with the University of PNG.

Dr Yala has made significant contributions to the work of the Institute both as Director and as a researcher.

His work in the land reform area has been pioneering coinciding with the work of the National Land Development Program since 2005.

He has contributed to various policy research, advice and commentaries on important issues.

As Director, he led the re-development of the NRI Waigani campus into the PNG Knowledge Hub.

Dr Yala acknowledged the PNG NRI Council and past management for creating a great working environment to develop as a researcher over the past 22 years.

I have to leave due to personal reasons however I am available to make a contribution to the work of the Institute,  Dr Yala said.

He thanked the staff, Council members and management after been presented with a gift portrait.
