New CEO for PMGH

Acting Chairperson for Port Moresby General Hospital, Kathy Johnston, today announced the appointment of Dr Paki Molumi as Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, effective September 1st, 2019.

Dr Molumi, originally from Mendi, Southern Highlands Province, was selected from a field of international candidates. Dr Molumi holds a bachelor of medicine and surgery, post graduate qualifications as an ear, nose and throat surgeon and a Master of Business Administration.

Johnston noted that the Hospital Board is delighted to have Dr Molumi, a Papua New Guinean, leading the nation’s major hospital.

“With some twenty years’ experience since graduation and with experience in Port Moresby General Hospital as Director Medical Services and more recently as Acting CEO, Dr Molumi is well prepared for this role,” she said.

“It is an exciting time for the hospital with the recent opening of a Catherization Laboratory and with other specialty services, including a Cancer Centre and Dialysis Centre to follow shortly.

“The Board wishes to acknowledge the support from the government of PNG, the Sir Theophilus Constantinou Foundation, the Australian government and others without which the hospital would not be able to achieve and sustain Level 7 status,” added Johnston.
