Lae Secondary remains closed

Lae Secondary School in the heart of Lae City is closed due to security reasons.

The school closed yesterday following an attempted confrontation by students from Bugandi Secondary School.

According to police reports, male students from Bugandi Secondary School mobilised and ran up to Eriku with the intention to attack male students from Lae Secondary School.

Quick response by police and intervention by Lae Secondary School teachers to pull their students back into the school premises, prevented what could have been another major inter-school fighting.

The cause of the conflict is still unknown.

Meantime, Lae Secondary School Principal, Christopher Raymond sent all his students home for safety reasons and hopes to resume classes on Monday.

He further urges the students from both schools to refrain from such school fights as nothing good will come out of it.

He said if there are issues, students should allow the school administrations to help sort out.

With the National Examinations coming up, Raymond said Grade 10 and 12 students need to prepare for these examinations and the others should give more time on their studies.
