Lae Police go on Facebook to fight crime

Lae Police are using social media to fight in the country’s second largest city.

Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr said the page was used last Friday because of the massive prison break at Buimo Prison.

He said the page was set up to interact with public in solving the law and order problem in the Morobe provincial capital.

“Please use this page to bring to our attention, areas of concern regarding policing,” Wagambie Jnr said.

“ It can be anything, from traffic enforcement, areas where street vendors and pick pickpocket people congregate and the methods they use, beer black market locations, frequent areas of noise pollution, or anything which Police need to attend to.

“We also encourage you to bring to our attention Police misconduct or queries on Police actions. We will be able to address it or provide an explanation.”

The Facebook name is, ‘RPNGC Lae Metropolitan Command’.  http://bit.ly/2pWbpT7
