Japan donates K300,000 worth of relief supplies

The Japanese government has donated relief supplies worth around 10 million Japanese Yen (K300,000) to the relief drive for the earthquake impacted areas.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency hosted the presentation today at the Jackson’s International Airport VIP lounge, where the National Disaster Centre director, Martin Mose, was on hand to receive the supplies.

The donation includes 200 blankets, 30 tarpaulins, 100 sleeping pads, 200 tents and 10 water tanks with water purifiers.

Special advisor to Japanese Prime Minister, Kentaro Sonoura, said the Japanese government and citizens have not forgotten the friendship and compassion to Japan.

He said they sincerely hope that these goods will be delivered promptly to the victims and will help to improve the lives of those affected.

Mose assured the Japanese delegates that the donation will go towards the most impacted areas without delay.

Meantime, Sonoura, on behalf of the Japanese government and its citizens, also extended his heartfelt sympathy to the victims of the earthquake in the Highlands region and Western Province.
