Hunters bring home pride

If there was anything going through Michael’s Marum’s mind in the final two minutes of the Intrust Super Cup grand final match, it was his belief in the Hunters team.

Trailing six points to ten, almost every Papua New Guinean was at the edge of their seats.

11,260 people packed the Suncorp Stadium, the home of the Brisbane Broncos and the Queensland Maroons to witness PNG’s first appearance and win in the Intrust Super Cup.

For many it has been a dream, now turned reality.

SP PNG Hunters will go down in PNG Rugby League History defeating Sunshine Coast Falcons 12-10 in Queensland Rugby League’s prestigious competition.

TV Wan Sports was with the team at Suncorp and captured all the jubilance among the team, coaching staff and players after the remarkable win in front of a choral PNG crowd.

It was no doubt a sense of patriotism for this rugby league speaking nation; the only difference is that Hunters won it on Queensland soil.

SP PNG Hunters is not only the talk of the town but the talk of the nation as they brought home the ISC cup today to a nation that is still celebrating.
