Hospitals for all districts!

The Government aims to build hospitals for every district in this term of parliament.

Minister for Planning and Monitoring, Richard Maru, announced this on Friday.

Maru said the Government will make it their business to build a hospital in every district so that people receive the basic health services they deserve.

Minister Maru reiterated the Government’s commitment to health, saying the ambitious plan is possible with the help of development partners.

He said this during the signing of two financing agreements for the Rural Primary Health Service Delivery project and the Boram Hospital upgrade in East Sepik Province.

Also present was Health Minister, Puka Temu, whom Maru asked for cooperation to see the development of proper training facilities for nurses and doctors.

He said this will ensure the district hospitals are functioning with manpower.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister has thanked the Government for increasing spending for the health sector by 14 percent, with an allocation of K1.5 billion.
