Hela MP’s support agri venture

Two MPs from Hela have thrown their support behind the proposed major commercial agriculture project.

Koroba-Kopiago MP, Petrus Thomas, and Komo-Magarima MP, Manasseh Makiba, said the project will be a game changer for their people.

They said their people have not seen the real benefits of the LNG project. However, with this agriculture project venture many people can earn a living from it.

Petrus Thomas said it was only fitting that such projects be established for the good of everyone.

“We need to go into agriculture, my District Development Authority is happy to be part of this project because not all Koroba-Kopiago are landowners under the PNG LNG Project. So it is only fair that I partner them in the agriculture programs that we have in place.

Mansseh Makiba added the project can address many social issues in his electorate.

“In my district we do have social issues like tribal fights and other social problems , because people are not engaged in meaningful activities like agriculture.

“Once this project comes on stream , we believe many of our people will be engaged to have them generate income for themselves,” said Makiba.
