Governor General Bob Dadae acknowledges wife

Governor General Bob Dadae gave praise to his wife of 30 years.

That was the first statement from Papua New Guinea’s 10th Governor General after his oath of loyalty to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea and the Queen of England before Chief Justice Sir Salome Injia in Parliament this afternoon.

After the official swearing in ceremony, the Governor General visited Government House accompanied by his wife, Hannah and met staff of the Governor General’s office before retiring for the afternoon.

A minute of silence was held in honour of the former Governor General late Sir Michael Ogio who passed away while in office this month.

Dadae paid tribute to his wife whom he credited for his success as a politician for the last 14 years.

“Without her, I would not be where I am today. We both work together in representing the people of Kabwum. It’s not me alone. In thanking her, I also want to thank our female staff here for their support towards their husbands.

“I look forward to serving our country and the Queen in this highest office. This office has been occupied by men of esteem and with your support I will be able to carry the duties required of this Office,” Dadae said.

He is a former school teacher with more than 25 years’ experience.
