GG’s Queen’s birthday message

The Governor General, Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae, has extended his congratulatory message to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, on her official birthday which falls on 11th June.

The Queen celebrates two birthdays a year. Her actual birthday is on 21st April and her official birthday is usually on the second Saturday in June.

The Queen is 92 years old this year.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Papua New Guinea, I take this time to convey my warm congratulations to Her Majesty the Queen on her 92nd birthday.

“Throughout her life, the Queen has exemplified exceptional service and dedication spanning 66 years as reigning monarch and head of the Commonwealth.

“In joining the rest of the Commonwealth nations celebrate the Queen’s birthday this weekend, I extend also, on behalf of our nation, our warm wishes for good health and many more years for Her Majesty the Queen,” the Governor General said.

“In commemorating the Queen’s birthday this long weekend, I want to urge our people throughout our country to spare a moment to reflect on what it means to be part of the Commonwealth and how each of us as individuals can play a part, however little, towards building a better Papua New Guinea now and into the future.”   

The Queen’s birthday long weekend falls on 9th June this year.
