Genuine PNG LNG Project landowner’s blasts ‘fake landowners

The genuine landowners of the Angore PDL8 well heads of the PNG LNG Project are calling on 'paper landowners' residing in Port Moresby to stop giving unnecessary demands to the Government and the project developer.

In a joint conference this afternoon, Chairman of Angore Special Authority, Hari John Akipe, alongside other leaders of the Angore Well head and Hakupara clan urged the developer and the government to ignore these demands.

The landowners said the issues raised in their petition on May 22, 2018 were not genuine and were not from genuine landowners and as such was not supported by the principal Wellhead clans who are custodians and security of the three Wellheads at Angore PDL8.

The genuine landowners led by Mr Akipe said ‘paper landowners’ living in Port Moresby should not try and take part in any decision regarding the benefits of the landowners.

He said genuine landowners are behind the government and the developer and maintained their stand that the project continues.

Mr Akipe said the ring leaders of the ‘paper landowners’ are supporters of two losing candidates in the 2017 elections.

“The losing candidates are funding these so called landowners with shelter, food and money.”

“The ring leaders of the petition are all unemployed and owe naïve creditors from all over PNG a lot of money for fuel, travels, vehicle hire, allowances, pokies, alcohol and socialising for years and such petition and threats make them more relevant to their creditors and to keep the flow line of credit open,” Mr Akipe claimed.

Angore Well head Leadership chairman Michael Kuku said these so called ‘landowners’ were giving wrong information to people back at home.

He said the alleged protest that happened back home was a law and order issue.

Meantime Chairman of Angore Holdings Ltd John Poi urged the Government not to entertain their petitions.

Therefore the Wellhead landowners of Pereke, Hurupali, Halapura and Imika support the PNG LNG Project and will provide security to the Angore gas tie into PNG LNG Project.

They are also urging the Hides PDL 1&7 leaders to refrain from supporting, feeding and fund the Angore petitioners.
