Execution style killing

NCD police have confirmed the execution style shooting of the former BDA Chairman Fred Konga during the early hours of this morning.

Describing the incident as an execution, NCD Metropolitan police commander, Ben Turi says that Konga was followed by his killers in two separate vehicles.

At around 1am, Konga was driving along the Freeway towards Hohola where he resides, when he was shot.

Initial reports say that the victim was tailed by a White 5 Door Toyota Landcruiser from the Tunnel peel off behind the Stop and Shop Waigani Central side route, then cut off by a Green 5th element Ute in front of the Hastings Deering area.

Turi says that Konga’s two brother in-laws who were with him at the time of the shooting say that the gun men were in the 5 Door that tailed them.

“The 5 door pulled alongside Konga’s car then the occupants shot him and took off.

“This style of shooting can only be described as an execution.

“He was tailed then gunned down,” Turi said.

Both witnesses along with a 5 year old boy who was also in the car at the time of the shooting are still in a state of shock and are with police at Boroko.

Police are now working on getting further details into this incident with Homicide anticipated to release a full statement later this afternoon.
