Company dismisses claims of health breaches

Haru Trading Limited has dismissed allegations that health and safety standards are being breached by the company in its production of the Lulu drink.

The allegations were made on social media and quickly went viral, prompting National Capital District Commission authorities to inspect the manufacturer’s production warehouse.

On Monday, Haru Trading Marketing and Sales Manager, Derek Cheah, outlined the process of the production of the Lulu drink in a tour with media personnel.

He said no violation of health and safety standards were breached by the company.

Cheah added that the company takes pride in automation production line, explaining that the workers are only used at the end of the production line.

This begins at the start of production with water going through a seven-stage filtration and purification process.

“Basically our production, I can declare, where 80 percent is automation is not heavy manual labour. Heavy labour is two sections; one is packing and the other is logistics, to deliver. We have hygiene practice and our water is safe to drink.”

After allegations of unhygienic practices by the company surfaced, NCDC health inspectors visited the manufacturer and noted that the company responded positively to health and standard issues.

Cheah reassures consumers of Lulu Juice that the product meets all health regulations and aims to remain as part of PNG’s consumer base for more years to come.
