Christmas, a time of reunion, reconciliation and reflection: Yamasombi

The NCD Central Divisional Commander, Donald Yamasombi he told officers to reflect on their failures, achievements and set directions for the better.

Yamasombi was speaking today during the launch of police operations for the festive period at Jack Pidik, 5 mile.

“Christmas is a time of reunion, reconciliation and reflection” he said.

Yamasombi said his priority come 2018 is to improve police accountability in terms of personal conduct and response time to reported incidents, as well as matters under investigations to be thoroughly investigated within the time frames.

“This is because we owe it to the residents of this city, it is because of them that we have a job. The more time we delay in responding to their calls, it’s denying justice to them.”

He said the parade by the Metropolitan Superintendent for the launch of operations, signifies the forces readiness to patrol the streets of Port Moresby.

“To ensure our people; the residents whom we have sworn an oath to protect, enjoy the festive season in peace and in the true spirit of Christmas.”

Meantime, Yamasombi also appealed to citizens to be mindful of their own safety and security as well.

He further thanked the member for Moresby North East and Housing minister, John Kaupa, who presented a new police truck to support them during their operations in the festive season.

“The new police truck will be utilized during the festive period to assist police conduct their operations in their night patrols,” Yamasombi assured.
