Central Province Police gear up for 2017 National Elections

Police operations in Central Province are prepared and on track with the aim to secure a free, fair and safe 2017 National General Elections will definitely be achieved.

Central Provincial Police Commanders, Laimo Asi said this upon presenting his 2017 election security plan yesterday to the Central/NCD Commander at Boroko Police Station.

PPC Asi said preparations for the conduct of elections went well in the previous elections. Íž

Police personnel will be on ground at their assigned location beginning with the awareness, campaigning, polling, counting and declaration and security will be divided equally to all districts, PPC Asi said.

Asi has urged his men to stay committed to their duties during the election in each of the districts and to make sure the election runs within the time and budget allocated.

"I am confident that police will deliver the elections safely to the people of Central Province."

Central and NCD Commander, Sylvester Kalaut adds that RPNGC will be here to assist, support and make sure that the election is conducted fairly and safely.

"We cannot deliver a free, fair and safe 2017 National General Election without the cooperation and assistance of everyone that includes the voting public, candidates and their supporters, as well as the staff of the PNG Electoral Commission.
