Central police say issues of police escorts still prevalent

Central police Commander Laimo Asi says there are still some rogue police personnel escorting buai buyers.

PPC Asi says this issue has been an on-going one as most of this cops are not being dealt with when they are reported.

Asi says the roadblocks set up at Laloki and Doa will be manned by his officers who will not tolerate such cops who break the law.

He futher appealed to the police officers as well as the buai buyers not to "agitate" the situation and respect the moves for this "shut-down" approach his command has taken.

Asi whose decision to stop buyers going into the province has been met with critics but he says that in the long run this stoppage will be good for the community.

Since Friday the roadblocks have been inplace with Central police also instructed to carry random checks and stops along the Hiritano Highway.

The main agenda for Asi is to stop the influx of buyers who bring with them a host of law and order issues that police have been tirelessly trying to deal with.

He says with the elections picking up in momentum his manpower needs to be on alert and not dealing with avoidable issues brought on from the buai trade.
