Babara Age appointed as DFAT Secretary

​The National Executive Council has recently appointed Ms Barbara Age as the Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade.

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, made the announcement recently saying Cabinet has recognized the wealth of experience, commitment and merit of Ms Age, both within the Department and in other regional agencies.

“The decision to appoint Ms Age as the DFAT Secretary was recently decided by the Ministerial Executive Appointments Committee and approved by Cabinet, given her occupying the position as the Acting Secretary since January.”

“Our government aims to promote gender equality in the public service and this is yet another instance of our objective,” O’Neill said.

Ms Age succeeds the outgoing Secretary William Dihm and will serve as Secretary for a period of four years effective as of 8th March 2018.

Meantime, NEC had also appointed Raho Samuel as the new Commissioner of the Office of Insurance Commissioner.

His employment contract as the Commissioner commenced on and from 8th March 2018 and will be for a period of four years.
