APEC working group to strengthen relations

The 7th Security Partners Working Group is well underway in Port Moresby.

Co- Chair of the Security Partners Working Group, Ian Jinga said the group is in essence consolidating, strengthening and further enhancing the already strong and comprehensive bilateral as well as multilateral relations.

Jinga said the Security Partners Working Group is the mechanism they have established that will not only facilitate, define and clearly articulate the nature of support required, but is also an avenue to consult and agree on the required support to help successfully deliver APEC 2018.

“For this working group meeting, we have outstanding projects to deliver. These include the Joint Security Task Force Organizational, Command and Control structures, the APEC Safety and Security concept of Operations, the JSTF Security Sector Working Group Operational Structures and defining their scope and methods of operations and discussions on the legal framework.”

Meanwhile, Jinga also urged partners to be frank and open in the dialogue in the true spirit of partnership and collaboration to bring about the successful planning and outcome for APEC Summit in 2018.

The 7th Security Partners Working Group which started on Thursday will wrap up discussions today.
