Angore L.O’s warned

Landowners at Angore have been warned to refrain from damaging properties at the Angore Wellpad A and other PNG LNG Project facilities.

In a joint media conference this afternoon, Acting Police Commissioner Jim Andrews and PNGDF Commander Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo warned that security personnel are now on the ground and anybody caught damaging property will face the full force of the law.

Acting Police Commissioner Jim Andrews said the actions of these landowners are uncalled for.

He said the perpetrators are known to police.

Andrews stressed that the minority who claim to be legitimate landowners, and have destroyed properties, will be apprehended and charged soon.

PNGDF Commander Brigadier General Gilbert Toropo supported this call, saying PNGDF has sent a large number of soldiers to Hela to support police.

He also stressed that the military is there to maintain peace and bring back normalcy to the provinces affected by the minority of people who obviously have a vested interest in the issues.

Locals claiming to be landowners damaged properties at Angore Well pad A and machines belonging to ExxonMobil, at Tagali river.
