Alleged double voter to be served

Investigation files compiled by the Crimes Investigation Detectives have been completed and will be served on an Engan man, who was arrested in Port Moresby for double voting during polling.

The case against the 25-year-old, from Tsak valley, has been before the Committal Court for the past three months, following his arrest on June 30.

Erik Pps first appeared in court on July 6.  His case went for mention today, however he was not present.

Police prosecution informed the court that his files will be served on him when he returns to court at the end of the month.

He was arrested at the 5 mile Ridge polling booth in the Moresby North–East electorate, and charged under section 100 of the Criminal Code, for voting more than he was entitled to.

According to the police hand-up brief, he admitted voting three times when caught.
