Local findings reveal positive DSIP outcome

A research carried out by local researcher Michael Mell has revealed that the outcomes of the Provincial and District Services Improvement Program (PSIP and DSIP) so far are positive.

The findings were published in the recently launched Mell Review magazine titled ‘O’Neill-Dion Govt to Return in 2017’, produced by Mell Research and Marketing Consultant (MRMC).

The independent research revealed that the PSIP and DSIP are driving unprecedented developments in the districts and need to be continued.

This was evident following extensive visitations to many districts all over PNG.

The research also profiled three electorates; Nipa Kutubu, Anglimp South Waghi and Usino Bundi, that successfully reflect the total performance of the current Government.

“Our observations show that the magnitude of development experienced in the districts depends largely on how hard their respective MPs worked.

“The findings suggest that the current Government has delivered on its policies, unlike most past governments.

“The current Government has established a workable model to ignite bottom up development of the isolated districts where the bulk of the county’s population live,” Mell said.

Mell added that the Government has developed a comprehensive and very practical bottom up development model only in the last five years, which is beginning to change the rural districts.

The research highlights that the bottom up development concept has been drummed up, both inside and outside of parliament, for the last 36-38 years, but no one found the model that could deliver until O’Neill came into power.
