ABG urged to pay outstanding rentals

The Autonomous Bougainville Government administration has been given two weeks to pay outstanding rentals or be forced to evacuate premises.

From January right through to September, landlords say they have not received any payment.

Spokesperson for the group of landlords, Clement Omi, said a letter of demand has already been handed over to the relevant authorities.

“It is with great concern that we are now making the call on the ABG to pay up outstanding rentals that they owe us,” Omi said.

“Failure to do so will force us to move tenants out of the premises, more particularly the departments that are renting from us.”

The properties are Hantokii Rental House, kabaddi Holdings, Arawa properties and rentals, Pihei reality estate and Rose reality estate.

The ABG has until October 1 to pay up or the landlords will lock them out of the properties.

Omi further stated that they, as landlords and property owners, are fully registered with the IPA and are tax payers to the IRC.

“It’s the government now that will get the biggest blame if we lose business because they’re our biggest clients,” stated Omi.
