He was speaking at the spectacular opening ceremony of the 10th Pacific Games that Vanuatu delivered on Monday night.

For the past six years Vanuatu has been preparing for this event, the opening ceremony of the Pacific Mini Games.

The country’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Simeon Seule, addressed the crowd and leaders during the opening ceremony, saying despite challenges that everyone acknowledges, the people and the Vanuatu Government, firmly support the games.

He said Vanuatu is a young nation but has overcome those challenges and now stand ready in hosting the Pacific and deliver the games for the athletes, spectators and broadcast to viewers to the highest standards.

“We are grateful for the support of our Pacific Neighbours provided in times of disaster particularly the wake of cyclone Pam.

“I want to give a special thankyou to Papua New Guinea who helped us at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby,” he said.

He made a special acknowledgement to the China Government for funding the renovations to the Korman Staidum.
