The team is expecting strong challenge from traditional rivals New Caledonia, Fiji and hosts Vanuatu.

“Everyone is here to give their best and we will ensure that they are able to do that to the best of their ability.

“At the end of competition we want to send everyone back satisfied that they gave their best,” said Waiwai.

She thanked partners of the PNG Olympic Committee and Team PNG whose support has made it possible for the team to participate at this Games.

“I want to thank all our sponsors and partners and also to everyone who participated in our events, including the Trukai Fun Run and the Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge to raise funds for the team.”

She also thanked Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited for covering levies for the team and Air Niugini for the ease in moving the team’s luggage through during the trip.

Waiwai also acknowledged the support from ExxonMobil PNG, SP Brewery, The National, Coral Sea Hotels, IBS University, Blue 7 Team, Theodist, Trophy Haus and Media Partners.
