The PNG karate team claimed five medals for PNG on their first day of competition.
A silver medal went to Vincent Bougen in the men’s -84kg division.
Crystal Mari also won silver in the women’s -60kg kumite (sparring).
A bronze medal went to Nigel Bana in the men’s -60kg Kumite.
Cosmas Saliawali and Crystal Mari both took out bronze medals for the PNG karate team in the men’s and women’s individual kata respectively.
PNG karate team coach Trevor Roberts encouraged the team to keep training hard for competitions such as the VAN2017 Pacific Games.
