Public Solicitor Office Policy Manual launched

A policy manual that will guide the management, operation and conduct of employees of the Public Solicitors office has been launched.

The first of such after 60 years in operation, Acting Public Solicitor Leslie Mamu says the document is important as it guides the management in arriving at decisions made with integrity and certainty, in the operation of the office.

The Public Solicitors office police Manual 2018 was launched by Attorney General, Minister Davis Steven.

The office of the Public Solicitor has seen demand in legal aid services, ranging from criminal to civil, including family law issues in the past 60 years.

A legal document that will guide its operation and management decisions has been launched.

The Public Solicitor office Policy Manual is a document that will guide the office to maintain excellence and integrity in legal aid service.

“The document I am sure will bring certainty in how these offices will be managed and secondly in terms of integrity in the decisions that are made by management,”

The manual will also guide the management’s decision in the selection of officers’ training.

An office that reaches the ordinary people in need of legal representation or advice, the Attorney General is confident the Public Solicitors Office will continue to discharge its constitutional mandate effectively.

“So on this occasion as I launch the policy manual for this office, I am confident that this important work that we celebrate today will add and enhance to continue discharge of the constitutional mandate to an independent and robust office, which is described as the people’s legal office.”
