Plans for HB Village Police Division

The Police Minister, Jelta Wong met with Community leaders from Hanuabada Village to discuss details of the first pilot project for the Hanuabada Village Police Division.

Present at the meeting on Tuesday was Village Court Magistrate, Thomas Willie , Elevala Village Social Concern Committee, Fred Bau and Dadi Toka junior.

The project will require at least 30 men and women from Hanuabada to be trained by RPNGPC to Reserve Police Officer standards.

The Downtown Police Station will work in partnership with the pilot team at the Village for a 2 year period.

Police Minister is very supportive of the Initiative and hopes to see this community initiative grow.

Community Leader, Dadi Toka Jr will assist the pilot team to ensure this project is delivered successfully as there is a long term plan after this pilot.

Meanwhile, both Thomas Willie and Fred Bau reiterated that the law and order issues at the village need to be managed properly but in order for this to take place enforcement needs to come from the Village people themselves.
