Young girl donates birthday

A young girl in Port Moresby has decided to do something different for her 9th birthday.

Instead of being the star of the event, Charmaine Teshawn Bawo Ray will be taking her birthday celebrations to Life PNG Care.

Life PNG Care is the home of disadvantage and vulnerable children.

The young girl from Northern and Manus Province will be gifting these children her birthday celebration.

Charmaine’s mother, Sheena Bawo, came up with the idea, calling it donate-a-birthday.

“I thought some of the underprivileged kids don't get to celebrate birthdays often and so I arranged with the Life PNG Care to share my daughter's birthday with them this year,” says Bawo.

“It’s not that we are rich or well off....but since Life PNG Care Inc has a Kilo for Kindness program...this is my family and I, our Kilo of Kindness donation.”

Charmaine turns 9 tomorrow on December 12.

Her family and friends have been invited. Each will bring along 8 goodie bags with assorted sweets and kiddie items. They will spend time at the Life PNG care residence, at Gerehu stage 4, interacting and paying games with these children.
