Xmas, reformation stamps launched

There was yet another official stamp launch this morning, this time a double stamp cancellation of Christmas and reformation stamps for Lutheran Church’s 500 years anniversary.

Postage stamps are silent enforcers, driving respective agendas globally.

Religion, especially Christianity in particular, is one topic which overtime has dominantly reshaped western society.

Today, in a small but significant ceremony, the media, Lutheran Church representatives and staff of Post PNG witnessed the launch of the first day covers and stamp packs commemorating the 500 years reformation of the Lutheran Church and 2017 Christmas celebrations.

Both stamps co-relate and complement each other, further driving and embracing the importance of religion in PNG.

The stamps range from K1.50 to K6 and are ideal Christmas gifts for friends and relatives overseas.

A cancellation (or cancel) is a postal marking applied to a postage stamp or a piece of postal stationery indicating that the item has been used. The primary purpose of cancels is to prevent the reuse of stamps.
