When life gets too tough…

Help is always provided for those who seek it.

The public is encouraged to access the Wantok Counselling Helpim Line, a toll free service targeting those affected by gender based violence.

Kinime Daniel is among the dedicated councillors who work at the Wantok Counselling Helpim Line.

Speaking at a media workshop recently, she describes her job as one of the most rewarding as she gets to help countless of people from all over the country restore faith in life, possibly saving lives.

The public is encouraged to use the toll free line 7150 8000 to access counselling services whenever life gets too tough.

The Wantok Counselling Helpim line was set up to help minimise the negative effects of gender based violence on women and children, who are most often the most affected.

Counsellors provide counselling and referrals to appropriate authorities for immediate action.

Kinime said they received, on average, 13,000 callers annually.

While the service targets gender based violence and responding to immediate safety actions, the counsellors also respond to sexual violence callers, children welfare and even suicide.

The toll-free line again is 7150 8000 for free counselling service.
