UPNG to host career expo tomorrow

A career expo will be hosted at the University of Papua New Guinea tomorrow (Aug 23) from 9.30am-3.30pm.

In a statement, UPNG said: “The expo is targeted at 4th year students who will be completing their studies and searching their way into joining the workforce.

“The aim of the event is to assist students identify prospective organisations for future employment.

“The expo is necessary because it allows students to reach out to companies at the tip of their finger. In other words, we bring the employers closer to them.”

The Career Office within the Students Services Department has confirmed participation from several organisations, including: PNG Air Services, PNG Job Seek, PNG workforce, KPMG, Puma

Energy, Westpac, PNG High Performance Centre, People’s Micro Bank, NASFUND,IHG-PNG Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza Port Moresby, Total Event Company, P & O Maritime and others.

“The expo provides a platform to build relationships, long term partnership and a link to finding employment.

“It is a win-win for both parties. Students have the opportunity to meet companies/organisations, obtain relevant information and market themselves, whilst employers have the opportunity to market or advertise their recruitment graduate training and development programs.”

The theme for this main event is “Choosing a Career Path”.

UPNG is extending an invitation to more companies/organisations to participate in the event and provide advice on their recruitment processes and company profiles.

“The motive here is to help students obtain as much information about workforce and how they may be able to fit in. Our students are our future leaders, managers, trainers, operators, doctors, teachers to name a few. Therefore we should try in our capacity to guide them find their full potentials.”
