Paradise Private Hospital opens second clinic

The Paradise Private Hospital (PPH) has opened its Taurama Clinic in Port Moresby.

This is the second clinic to be launched this year by the Hospital as it continues to expand its services to reach more people.

The new clinic, located at Taurama Foodland, was officially launched by the Secretary for the National Department of Health, Pascoe Kase, on Wednesday 19th of June.

This follows the opening in May of the first clinic in Town, Port Moresby, to cater for the high demand and increasing number of patients targeting mainly the corporate clients.

PPH Chief Executive Officer, Dr Robin Sios, highlighted that the PPH POM Clinic and PPH Taurama Clinic aim to bring services more accessible to people and to free up the main Hospital as the referral hub for the sick and critically sick.

Services, including well baby clinic immunisation services, premedical examinations, diagnostic services and general consultations have now been transferred from the Hospital and provided at the PPH Taurama Clinic.

All medical checks that will be done at the clinic include general medicals, pre-employment checks, medical referrals, student medicals, police medical reports, visa medicals and aviation pilot medicals.

Diagnostic services include x-ray, laboratory, ECG, audiometry and spirometry.

Dr Sios said PPH strives to ensure compliance to the National Health Services Standards and implement the National Health Plans for better health outcomes to citizens.

“We see ourselves as strategic partners in health care delivery and provide an alternative health service facility for our people to access. “We appeal to the National Department of Health for more involvement of private health care providers in health planning and more engagement in primary health care rollout programs,” he said.

Dr Sios added that there must be strengthened public private partnership arrangement for the delivery of services in the health sector.

The Health Secretary said it is important that the private and public health sector work together and strengthen this relationship.

“The private sector is an important partner in the delivery of health services in PNG. I commend PPH for providing neutral membership to the Medical Board of PNG representing the business houses,” Pascoe said.

The PPH Taurama Clinic operates from 8am to 5pm on weekdays and 8am to 12noon on Saturday.
