Fight against cancer continues throughout the country

The fight against cancer initiated by the Catholic Health Services of the Goroka Dioceses still continues.

Undertaken by a team of volunteers, the Walk the Talk against cancer has been carrying out various fundraising activities since its inception last year.

The aim is to raise money both in PNG and abroad to support Sir Joseph Nombri Memorial Hospital, Goroka General Hospital and Catholic Health Services to have facilities necessary for prevention (information, education and awareness), early detection and treatment, palliative care and support that are not available and critically needed in the highlands region of PNG.

The biggest fundraising activity last year was a six day walk from Asaro to Kundiawa.

This year’s will be the corporate dinner to be held in March 24 in Port Moresby.

Project manager of PNG’s Walk the Talk against Cancer, Barbara Toiya confirmed that preparations are going as planned.

A stakeholder workshop will be held in Goroka this Friday, February 10.
