4 successful open heart operations

The first session of Pacific International Hospital’s cardiac program for 2018 saw successful open heart operations for 4 cardiac patients.

The objective of the cardiac surgery program is to save hearts so that patients can confidently return to a peaceful, productive and pain and fear free lives.

The cardiac program started in 2015 and since then, has impacted the lives of over 30 Papua New Guineans suffering from heart defects.

On the occasion of its 3rd anniversary, patients shared their success stories and their experiences before and after the operations.

They said the alternative provided by PIH saved them and their families numerous costs and associated problems of going abroad.

Being able to have their families near them before, during and after the surgeries is an added bonus as it gave them the comfort and confidence to go under the knife.

In commemoration of the 3rd anniversary, the public is offered a one-time special offer where prices for angiograms have been slashed by 50 percent, valid until the 10th of March.

This means patients will pay only K5,000.

The operations are done every 3 months in a year by a team of surgeons flown in from India.

The program is anticipated to continue to grow from strength to strength to allow Papua New Guineans access to affordable heart operations.

Meanwhile, PIH will continue the weekly Chest Pain Clinic every Friday for free screening and blood test for the benefit of people with potential cardiac issues.
