Premier fashion show launches tomorrow

PNG’s premier fashion show will launch tomorrow at Vision City.

The PNG Fashion Week kicks off midday April 4th and will run through to April 7.

Over the four day period, a number of runways will be staged at various venues throughout Port Moresby.

Vision City megamall will be the centre of hype, playing host to the free runway shows: Street culture show, Vision City show, future show, resort show and pikinini show.

Haute Couture show and the Gold show are closed events, to be held at the Sanctuary Hotel and Sir John Guise indoor stadium respectively.

Each show presents a PNG taste in each fashion category.

The week’s event is full of creativity, including The Yasi’s – a brother sister dancing sensation set to entertain the crowd.

Managing Director Philma Kelegai has confirmed 14 designers, representing various provinces all over the country.

The scope of participants include emerging designers like the young Judith Yaom, renowned designers like Sarah Haoda Todd of PNGian Kala and those with experience but no exposure like the mother-daughters team Ellen, Bathsheba and Vicky Keno of Jacobs Fashion Business.

The event is a platform to push these designers further up as well as the 30 models at the runway.

PNG Fashion Week also announced a guest to walk the runway is 2015 Miss Fiji and 2017 Miss World Supermodel Zaira Begg.
