So far the team has travelled to Alotau in partnership with the Women Weavers of Milne Bay Festival where they have already selected a winning designer and model.
They have also travelled to partner with the Kokopo fashion community and will be returning in July to a select winning designer and model during the Mask Festival and excitedly this weekend, they will be in Enga Province.
Director of PNG Fashion Week Philma Kelegai says this will be PNG Fashion Week’s first time in Enga.
The reason why they have chosen to go to Enga is because the province is progressive and has already staged art exhibitions in collaboration with Australia, not to mention its thriving cultural shows that are fast becoming a tourist attraction.
Kelegai added Enga is embracing the expressions of culture and art in all its forms, including fashion and therefore PNG Fashion week would like to partner with Enga in any way possible to grow the industry in the province and to help showcase to the world what Enga has to offer.
Kelegai emphasized that PNG Fashion Week aims to help, support, grow and develop the local economy.
PNG Fashion Week will be at the Take Ande this weekend to audition and workshop models, fashion designers and cultural creatives.
Enga Fashion Week will be hosted as part of the Enga Cultural Show and will showcase the rich talent and heritage that is Enga and the Highlands of PNG.
PNG Fashion week is making a callout to aspiring and fearless designers and models, if you are in Enga on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June this weekend, between 1pm and 4pm, come to the Take Ande and audition.
One model and one fashion designer will be selected to go to Port Moresby to take part in PNG Fashion Week, scheduled from the 7th - 12th Cctober, 2019.
