Kelegai is the National Director and Founder of World Supermodel PNG and has been in the fashion and events industry for over 10 years both locally and internationally.
PNG Fashion Week Co-Founder and Director Sally Vuli Napolioni acknowledged the outgoing committee for their hard work and efforts in 2016.
She said it was an honour to work with other Papua New Guineans committed to partnership and entrepreneurship.
PNG Fashion Week looks forward to continuing this drive and passion under the new leadership and is grateful to Janet Sios, who no longer represents PNG Fashion Week for her leadership last year.
“We wish her the very best in her future.” Napolioni said.
Napolioni believes that the reigns of this industry must be in the hands of the future of the country.
PNG Fashion Week is now under the helm of Kelegai.
“PNG Fashion Week will be committed to providing a multifaceted interface that serves local, regional and international stakeholders interested in opportunities and in driving change through this industry,” Kelegai said.
"We look forward to partnering with likeminded stakeholders to set the stage and raise the standard for PNG in fashion and art.
“Fashion is a billion-dollar global industry that can have a positive impact on economies. There is an opportunity to unleash this kind of potential here in the Pacific, with our friends from Fiji in their 10th year of Fiji Fashion Week, we see no reason why PNG cannot drive this just as successfully.”
PNG Fashion Week is looking for applicants for its committee and a strong volunteer base.
All enquiries for PNG Fashion Week should be directed to PNG Fashion Week Managing Director, Philma Kelegai.
