MPIP PNG 2017 launched

Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) PNG has formally opened the year 2017.

Launching the year Tuesday night, the committee announced two main events on its calendar for the year – the project runway – August 12 and Crowning Ball – 28 October.   

Making the announcement, deputy Chairperson, Emma Waiwai again called for generous support.

“For these events to be successful, we are appealing to you once again to come on board and partner with us.  Whether it be in cash or kind, we know it will go a long way to make this year another successful one

“Young women are already waiting to be signed up as contestants, our designers are getting ready to showcase their designs and their creativity and we are waiting to show the region our Miss PNG 2017, the embodiment of a modern Papua New Guinean woman, both educated and culturally aware with the ability to share the spirit of Papua New Guinea,” she said.

The event also farewelled outgoing committee members including former chairperson Katherine Johnston, former secretary (also a former Miss PNG) Christine Aiwa and Elsie Boga.

The new committee of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG 2017 are Monica Toisenegila, Jelena Tamate, Nadya Parascos, Euralia Paine and as is the tradition, Miss Papua New Guinea, Kellyanne Limbiye is an integral part of the voluntary committee.

Limbiye thanked the sponsors in 2016, and called on more young women to join the pageant this year.

“I urge you to please don’t be held back by doubt, insecurity or hesitation, take a leap of faith and dive in. You never know just how much you could accomplish and learn.”
