Milne Bay matron overwhelmed with support

Matron for the UPNG Milne Bay Students Union (MBSU) and vice-chairperson for the Milne Bay Day Committee (MBDC), Ms Jeanne Taligatus, was overwhelmed at the level of support shown from the Milne Bay community in Port Moresby.

This was towards the 2017 Milne Bay Day celebrations on Saturday, August 12, at the Sir John Guise Stadium and the Cosmopolitan hosted by the UPNG Milne Bay Students.

In a Facebook post made on the eve of Monday 14th August, she expressed her gratitude towards the team behind the 2017 Milne Bay Day and the 2017 Milne Bay Nite.

"The experiences, the hiccups, every detail of Milne Bay Day 2017 from start to finish was just awesome with you all. I wouldn’t have it one way or another,” she said.

“Jimmy Segodi, your knowledge and guidance has taken this event to the next dimension and MBSU and the Committee owe it to you. Prakash - Mr President your level headedness and cool, calm and collective personality and management has also taken our preparations to another level. The students owe it to you too.”

She further extended her gratitude to mama Linah Parimahi, Nixon Solomon and everyone that had pitched in to make the event a success.

“Lastly, thank you to my beautiful people of Milne Bay here in POM and who flew in from the province … Tinani Baneina, avi tanikiuem, Kagutoki, Amatoi, Kadatokisi, Siule, mwago...”

Apart from raising funds to support a worthy cause, the 2017 Milne Bay Day was aimed at bringing together Milne Bay families and community groups within Port Moresby, and Saturday’s event was no let down. This year’s motto: ‘’Together we can, for Milne Bay Province’’.
