Jamaican sensation for Pom

Port Moresby will experience the Jamaican sensation come February 3 and the Cosmopolitan is making sure of this.

Confirmed to perform for one night only is Jamaican reggae and dancehall singer, Charly Black, also known as Desmond Mendize or alternatively Charly Blacks.

His appearance on a PNG stage is made possible by The Cosmopolitan and Shadyville Australia, as part of The Charly Black Australia, New Zealand and PNG tour.

He is the voice behind hits like Perfect, Hoist & Whine, My Girl Now and the very popular Gyal You A Party Animal

The club anthem, Party Animal  is the hit that got him the international recognition and making a name in countries, like here in PNG.

His first ever performance in the country this February will give partygoers the feel of live dancehall, very popular in Jamaican music culture.

According to Jamaicansmusic.com, dancehall is often referred to as reggae's rebellious cousin. It emerged as an under-ground genre almost two decades after roots reggae.

Its key elements include its extensive use of Jamaican Patois rather than Jamaican Standard English and a focus on the track instrumentals (or "riddims").

Artistes toast (similar to rap) over digital riddims (rhythms) as opposed to the usual playing of pre-recorded music.

Charly Black will travel to PNG from Australia.

Tickets will be made available soon!
