Fashion comp inspires 20yo

Competitions are not always about winning, as Dylan Yaruso sees.

The 20-year-old is one of the seven designers competing in Lamana Gold Club’s ICE PNG FASHION 2016.

This annual competition presents a platform for models and designers both, where Yaruso joined last year, trying for both categories.

This year though, the young boy from Northern Province is focusing on his passion to design.

He has turned heads with his Dyarlli brand.

In the last heat, Yaruso modelled his own design, showing off a funky cool look for the PNG Musician Performance category.

The rock mix pop swag was inspired by international music videos and artists like Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger, hinting a bit of PNG touch with the tapa cloth added .

“Honestly, I feel this year is tougher because there are more designers that are more skilled. It’s challenging but I love it because challenges harness skills as a designer, allows me to practice skills.

“Compared to last year, I feel like I’m showing more of me as a designer and I’m thankful to this avenue, allowing me to launch my designs. It’s not about winning, importantly, it’s about people knowing my designs,” he said.
