Dog owners invited to register pets for show

The RSPCA is calling for those who have adopted dogs from their shelter to enter their furry family member in this year’s RSPCA Pedigree Pal Dog Show.

“We have a category specifically for dogs who have found their forever homes through our Adoption Program,” said the RSPCA in a statement.

“The July 28th RSPCA Pedigree Pal Dog Show will start at 8am and be held at the IEA school field. Registration fee is K10 per dog.”

Other categories for dogs to enter include:

  1. Best dressed dog at the show
  2. Oldest dog in Port Moresby
  3. Smallest dog in Port Moresby
  4. Best trick
  5. Best behaved dog
  6. Most obedient dog
  7. Dog who most resembles his/her owner. This category is a fun way for owners and pets to dress alike.
  8. Best in Show

Owners wishing to register their dog(s) for the RSPCA Pedigree Pal Dog Show can do this at the RSPCA Vet Clinic, located on the corner of Kunai Street and Waigani Drive, Hohola. All participating dogs need to be registered and vaccinated prior to the show date. All dogs who enter a category automatically go into the category for ‘best behaved dog on the day’.

(Seven year old ‘Tako’ was adopted from the RSPCA in 2011 and has been in every dog show since the first one held in 2015. She has walked off with prizes in the categories of ‘Most obedient dog,’, ‘Dog with the smartest dog trick’ and ‘Best behaved dog’. Tako is pictured with her late father, Jonathan, performing a hand shake during last year’s dog show)
